ROBERT D. McTAGGART
Lead Counsel

Mr. McTaggart practices in the areas of real estate law and business law. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the area of Commercial Real Estate Law. Mr. McTaggart received his bachelor's degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan in 1975, and his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1979. Mr. McTaggart was admitted to the Virginia bar in 1980 and the Texas bar in 1982. He was the 1999 Chairman of the Real Property Section of the Dallas Bar Association. He is also a member of the Dallas Area Real Estate Lawyers. Mr. McTaggart has served as an adjunct professor at El Centro College, where he taught courses on the law of real property and real estate transactions.

Mr. McTaggart is a frequent speaker and is the author of "Leasing Terms," BOMA Real Estate Magazine, 1994; "Free Look Provisions," 1994, "Pending Legislation," "Lease 'Gross-Up' Provisions," "Unauthorized Practice of Law," and "Collecting Commissions," Commercial Real Estate Brokers Newsletter, 1993; "Negotiating Commercial Real Estate Leases", 1991 and 1992, "Assignments, Subleases and Options," 1993 and 1995, Advanced Conference on Commercial Real Estate Leases; "Texas Foreclosure Law Update - 1991"; and the "Foreclosure Manual" of the Federal Asset Disposition Association (FADA), as well as various articles on real estate law topics. Mr. McTaggart is an instrument rated pilot.


 

DAVID A. MacDONALD
Senior Counsel

Mr. MacDonald practices in the areas of general civil litigation, business and commercial litigation, banking litigation, real estate litigation with an emphasis on lease disputes, bankruptcy and general business and corporate law. Another area in which Mr. MacDonald has garnered substantial experience is in representing residential owners and management companies concerning all aspects of landlord-tenant matters.

Mr. MacDonald represents several apartment owners and management companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and his representation of these clients includes the following: (1) Handling all kinds of disputes with residents, including evictions, defending claims brought by residents, collecting rent from former residents, and interceding to resolve resident disputes before they progress to more costly litigation; (2) Drafting or assisting in the drafting of lease forms, addenda, community policies, early termination agreements, or any other types of documents for use with residents; (3) Advising landlords concerning regulatory and statutory compliance issues; and (4) Conducting training seminars for apartment managers and personnel.
